Meet the Team

Donna started her career in high school working as an intern at the Smithsonian. Later she graduated from George Mason University with her master's in paleobotany. She spent many years working at garden centers becoming a fearful competitor across the plant world. A lover of books and a passion for produce. She started the D.L. Shipp Farm business in 2009.  Since then she has gone to many local farmers' markets.  She is a favorite vendor at the JMU farmers market catering to the student's needs. And now continuing to expand to markets at festivals and shows throughout Virginia.

Dorothy is an aspiring artist. In high school, she attended pre-college at mica for figure drawing for two summers.  She graduated from VCU's rigorous fine arts program with her bachelor's in painting and printmaking with minors in art history and psychology. During the summer she worked at the national zoo face painting.  She also spent time on her work-study for the institute for contemporary art in Richmond.  Eventually coming home to further the foundation that Donna has built creating Dorothey of Oz. While helping invest in the future of D.L Shipp Farm at markets and festivals in order to grow together.  Dorothy is taking them to new opportunities.
